Ridgewood High School E-Sports

About:

The mission of Esports is to be an awesome, welcoming, chill, and fun space for every type of gamer to get their game on. We have opportunities for gamers who want to compete in our Rebels Esports team against other schools, casual gamers who just want to play their favorite games in-club with others, and literally anyone else who just wants to come by to hang out with their friends, and make some new friends.

Benefits:

Everyone plays games. It’s hard to find an individual who doesn’t enjoy some type of game, and in Esports, we have everything from Meta Quest 3 VR headset gaming to PC gaming to all the way through to retro gaming. Just about every major video game console every manufactured is either on-site or available over emulation, so there’s likely something here that just about every casual gamer will enjoy playing.

For anyone interested in trying out competitive gaming, one of the true joys of esports is that no matter how you identify as a person, in the gaming world.. you’re able to connect with others free of judgement. Many competitive games have people play each other from around the world, in real-time, with no ability to see the other person. And.. collegiate esports teams continue to grow in popularity, with many colleges and universities now offering partial and even full scholarships for skilled and accomplished gamers. In many ways, esports is quickly moving closer to becoming just like any other competitive activity or sport.

Events:

Besides our competitive seasons in the Upstate Eight Tournament and as a member of the IHSEA esports league, we regularly run all-school charity tournaments and fundraisers, with additional opportunities for those interested to rebuild older video game consoles to bring them back to life.
