Dear Parents, Students and Friends of Ridgewood,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 School Year!
This is my forth year as superintendent, my 15th year as an administrator and my 24th year in education. From this vantage point, I can confidently say that we, as a school community, have a unique and exciting journey ahead. We set high expectations for ourselves and for our students. We are committed to providing each student with a unique and challenging learning environment, preparing them for a successful future.
Does this sound familiar? In reality, it should. We are traveling back to the future of where our roots as Rebels began. Progressive and Inspiring. World Class. That is the direction our school is taking. Consider the Ridgewood High School symbol which incorporates Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man with the addition of a diagrammed atom. The illustration shows the balance between the physical and the mental - representing the education of the “whole” person.
This is not an initiative but rather a mindset of growth and change. We offer our students support through their individual voyages, emphasizing the lessons learned every step of the way. Academic assistance is available in many forms at Ridgewood – direct instruction, internet resources, appointments with teachers, tutoring and more. And we are grateful that our parents and families play very active roles in supporting their students’ education and life journey.
Our team is exceptional. We are implementing programs that are research based and good for students. In addition, we have a school board that is knowledgeable and cares about the students and the staff. And finally, we are proud to be part of a community that supports education.
