In Chess Club, we learn various strategies and how to play with a timer. New members and novices are welcome! Our Chess Club members can also learn to play 4-way chess, 3D chess, and alternative versions of the game.
Benefits
Chess Club brings Ridgewood students together. Playing the game reinforces that making mistakes is how we learn. It also builds confidence. Strategizing in chess helps students focus and learn about the consequences of their choices while promoting more long-term thinking, planning, and problem solving. Because there are so many options with chess, students can also display their creativity. It's fun too!
Events
We enjoy performing community service every year. We also hold a competitive in-house chess tournament annually.
