About
NHS is a service organization of junior and senior students who apply on the basis of excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Community Service, and Character. Students apply their junior year and can re-apply as seniors. We perform service projects for RHS and the Norridge/Harwood Heights communities as well as projects that benefit people and organizations nationally. By the end of the year we will have organized and completed around 16 different projects--some small and local and others large in scale.
Benefits
The benefits of being in NHS include: receiving recognition for your accomplishments, learning more about ways to serve your community, and building your college resume.
Events
The service projects vary from year to year, based on the interests of the students, but some service staples include Read Across America (reading to elementary students), Valentines to Central Baptist residents, and forest preserve clean-up. We also host the formal NHS induction in March each year.
