In April, Senator Robert Martwick's paid a visit to our Principal Advisory Council Meeting. At this meeting, Senator Martwick shared some of the exciting news for education happening with legislation.
Some of the highlights were:
- How Illinois is working to build teacher capacity by educating and working to retain teachers
- Illinois has raised the MAP grant for higher education helping more students pay for college without debt
- Teachers will receive a $500 tax credit every year for classroom supplies
- Students and teachers will both be allowed to take mental health days to promote wellness
Senator Martwick invites all of us to reach out to him with any ideas to make Illinois better. He left us with an invitation to speak with him or have him come to speak to our students any time. Senator Martwick lived in Norridge for 37 years! He knows our community well. Thank you for taking your time to speak with us, Senator!
