Congratulations to eleven Ridgewood Spanish students who attained national recognition for excellent performance on the 2021 National Spanish Examinations.

This year our students earned a total of three silver and one bronze medals along with seven honorable mentions.  “Attaining a medal or honorable mention for any student on the National Spanish Examinations is very prestigious,” said Kevin Cessna-Buscemi, National Director of the Exams, “because the exams are the largest of their kind in the United States with over 60,000 students participating in 2021.”

The National Spanish Examinations are administered each year in grades 6 through 12, and are sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

Ridgewood students have a long history of high achievement on these exams and were taught by Spanish teachers Monica Hansen and Elizabeth Romano.

Congratulations to our recognized students: Gabriela Beltrán Rybak, Eliana Gonzalez, Ana Utvic – silver; Aaron Adaya – bronze; Natalie Armendariz, Caylynn Bingham, Estefania Corona, Vanessa Hernandez, Rubi Robles-Orozco, Jacob Swider, Jacob Zoladz - honorable mention.

In the Chicago Area Chapter Contest, Gabriela Beltrán Rybak was awarded the category of Excelente and earned a cash prize of $20.
